Overview
As the facilities management partner for National Records of Scotland, Lovat’s Group Ltd is proud to have delivered a significant energy efficiency upgrade through the replacement of legacy lighting with modern LED technology. This project formed part of our continuous improvement programme under our ongoing FM contract. 

The upgrade not only aligned with the Scottish Government’s sustainability ambitions but also delivered tangible benefits in energy savings, operational cost reductions, and workplace wellbeing. 

Our Approach 
Our team identified the opportunity for improvement during routine condition assessments, where outdated and inefficient lighting systems were noted as a priority area for optimisation. Working closely with the client, we developed a phased delivery plan that ensured minimal disruption to building users while achieving maximum energy efficiency. 

Results Delivered 
This project has significantly reduced electricity consumption across the site while also improving the quality of lighting in office and archive areas. Staff reported enhanced comfort, visibility, and working conditions, contributing to higher morale and productivity. 

From a financial and environmental standpoint, the LED upgrade will deliver over £20,000 in annual savings and avoid tonnes of CO₂ emissions over the life of the installation.
